REUNION
IDEAS AND QUESTIONS
Please read the ideas and questions below purely as the beginning of us all freely sharing what we would love to do and experience at our 20th Reunion!
Of course, by me listing some ideas is by no means me trying to push the venue to be here....I just thought that while we are waiting for a majority vote...we can at least think about what we would like to have at our 20th reunion. :0)
These were some ideas and questions I have thought of so far...we can go as large or as small as we want:
I can't wait to see what you all come up with!

- Meet and Greet Night cookout/bonfire followed by a hayride.
- An idea for our banquet / dinner is we could have it outside under pretty tents in the evening when all the fireflies come out and light up the night. We could easily set up a sound system and we have a projector and screen we could use for any multimedia we prepare.
- Jonathan Adam's is a pastor right? If we are here on a Sunday, I thought we could have our own service here on the ranch if we wanted, with those of us who want to sing and play instruments do the music and have Jonathan or anyone for that matter speak...or we could have a time of open mike with us sharing what the Lord has done in our lives these past 20 years.
- We have a stocked pond full of fish so we could even have a catch and release contest.
- For the children we could even rent those bouncy blow-up things for them to play on and of course 40 acres for them to run amuck on (and I know some of my classmates real well that they too will enjoy just running amuck. ) LOL!
- We constantly have a breeze on our property so even kite flying would be fun, we don't currently have any horses but I know many who do and we might be able to swing some horseback riding on the ranch.
- An alumni talent show? Our children talent show?
- We even have a large barn...do the older kids want to have a "Barn Social"?
- If it does rain us out...my church is only 4 miles away and we could always change the venue to there.
- Do we want to do a ladies lunch thing and the guys have their own lunch thing?
- Food ideas could be a big cookout/BBQ and bonfire, a BIG Southern Breakfast one morning, a Filipino meal and than our banquet meal of some kind. Note: there are several of our mom's and Filipino missionaries that I know who live withing 9 hours of us, who might be able to be talked into coming and preparing the Filipino food...it would taste good and be much cheaper than getting catered. (Not sure how many Philippine restaurants there are in KY!)
- And of course there are all the fun tourist things to do in the area as well- Mammoth Caves, Louisville Slugger bat factory and museum, The Ali Museum Mohammad Ali, The Horse Experience at the Derby (an encounter with race horses and museum ) River boat ride on the Ohio River, Six Flags Amusement Park, Etc.
- Do we want to demonstrate to our children what a Chinese Fire Drill looks like? Do you remember we did this at our 10 year reunion in Dallas and Shellie Brough Zagone was 8 months pregnant. LOL!
- What are some things you would like to see happen either on the ranch venue or elsewhere?
- How many days do we want the reunion to be? Thurs evening-Sunday? What month in 2007?
I can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Gigi - this all sounds great. I think the big questions to answer first regarding location are the airport issue, and it sounds like Cincinnati is close and I think would work as far as many airlines flying into it. Also, where to stay. Are there hotels/motels near your ranch (I don't think we want to do a lot of driving all the time) or do we all pitch a tent on your 40 acres? The Dallas location was nice because there was cheap accomodation and food right there in the cateteria, even if the compound was a bit institutional in feel, it was at least convenient. If we do most of the activities at your place, do you have the support facilities we would need - i.e. bathroom, etc. for lots and lots of people. Do you want us all traipsing in and out of your house? What month of the summer do you think is best for weather in Kentucy? Anyways, those are some of the more logistical questions to discuss too. As far as the activities you've listed, they sound great.

Gigi,
Thanks for all your efforts and ideas. I am sitting at my computer in Sydney and thinking that I would love to come over for a 20 year reunion that you are organizing. I also think that it would be an amazing experience for my kids.
All that said, it's fairly unlikely that I would get there.
Keep up the great ideas and all the best with putting together a great 20th reunion.

Melody,
Great questions! :o) Sorry it has taken me a bit to answer them but I had some research to do to answer each question. Below are the questions with the answers that I found.
Q: Airports?
A: The closest airport to me is the Louisville Airport which is 30 minutes away from me. All major airlines do fly into there including Southwest which may have great deals.
The next closest airport to me is the Cincinnati Airport which is about 60 minutes from me.
Q: Hotels?
A: There are 4 hotels that are only 8 miles from my house.
Holiday Inn Express(LaGrange, Ky)(502) 222-5678
Continental Breakfast, free wireless, indoor pool.
Super 8 Motel (LaGrange, Ky)
(502) 225-9778
Outdoor pool, free high speed wireless, Super Start Plus Breakfast
Comfort Suites (LaGrange, Ky)
(502) 225-4125
Deluxe continental breakfast, indoor pool, fitness center
Best Western/Ashbury Inn (LaGrange, KY)
(502) 222-5500
Outdoor pool, deluxe breakfast, high speed internet, fitness center
Q: Distance from hotels, restaurants, Wal-Mart, etc. from the ranch?
A: 8 miles
Q: Restroom at the ranch?
A: My house has 4 bathrooms, and my parent's house, who should be finished being built, will have at least 2 bathrooms. We can always bring more in if needed by borrowing friends’ campers to use.
Q: Traipsing in and out of the house?
A: No problem! :o)
Q: Best weather in Ky?
A: I figures that since most have school age children that the summer would be most reasonable for the reunion...but I am not set on the summer months. June is nice and not hot and so is July but near the end of July it can get a bit warmer (like most places). However we tend to have a nice wind most of the time.
Gigi,
Thanks for the info and the planning. I've never been to Kentucky but I'm looking forward to visiting with everyone.
